James Rodwell (Fry's/Hawks, 2002) represents England in Annual IRB Sevens World Tour

Winning the IRB London Sevens in front of a home crowd at Twickenham last May was "an amazing feeling" in the words of James Rodwell, who plays No. 8 at 15-a-side but has shown adaptability, mobility and handling skills in the abbreviated game.
It was onward and upward for James, whose England Sevens debut was against the USA in Dubai, 2008. Along the way, John Caves, his university coach and Moseley team manager, was another guiding influence as James was the club's U21 player of the year in 2004-05, the players' player in 2006-07 and supporters' player in 2008-09.
Representative honours came thick and fast on his rise with Hertfordshire Schools 18 Group, London & South East U18, captaining North Midlands U20 and representing Midlands U20 foreshadowing appearances for English Universities in 2005, England Counties (2006) and England Sevens for whom he has scored ten tries.
The England Sevens squad tour the world on the annual IRB Sevens World Series, exciting crowds with tries galore in the fast-paced, high-octane abridged form of the game.
Under the stewardship of coach Ben Ryan and led by captain Kevin Barrett, the Sevens squad took two titles last season - in Wellington and London - and have made a solid start to their quest for world series glory this season.
The side also competes in the IRB Rugby World Cup Sevens and the Commonwealth Games, and with Rugby Sevens becoming an Olympic sport in the 2016 games, these are exciting times for both players and fans.
