Annual OBs vs School 1st XI Cricket Match

The annual OBs cricket fixture was played in glorious sunshine on Sunday 20th June and the 1st XI were up against an Old Berkhamstedians team that included three Bartholomew brother's, Edward Tolchard (son of former Master i/c Cricket Geoff) and more recent Old Boys Oliver Haddock, Jack Kilgannon and Toby Phillips.
A strong batting line up for the Old Boys took their time to fire and early wickets by Connor Dow (2 for 26) and Tom Sambrook (2 for 28) stopped the flow of runs. Well paced innings' by Edward Tolchard (22) and Oliver Haddock (65) helped the Old Boys post their best total for some years (228).
The Old Boys were always concerned with their lack of bowling and the 1st XI soon set about chasing the runs with relative ease. Elliot Gilder (70) will be kicking himself for not posting his first school century despite looking in great form. However, Tom Sambrook made no such mistake as he eased his way to his maiden school century (105*) helping the school with 9 overs to spare.
