TOB Trust Company

The Old Berkhamstedians Trust Company Ltd was established in 2002 as a company limited by guarantee and as a registered charity to administer our charitable funds.  Through the generosity of many OBs, the Trust is able to provide for pupils at the School, Scholarship and Bursary assistance, adventure training through the Knox-Johnston Awards, Travel Grants, School Prizes and a wide range of support for School activities.

Investment income for the year was £19,459 compared to £20,914 in 2009.  This allowed us to continue our support for the school giving £19,245.  The result for the year was a surplus of £ 4,416, part of which will be channelled into additional investment.  There were two charges to the investments during the year which generated a surplus of £1,645.  Our charitable distributions in the year were made up as follows:

We are pleased to acknowledge, with thanks the receipt of donations of £170 for the Scholarship and Bursary Fund.  Gift Aid was and will be recovered where possible.  The annual transfer from our General Fund being 3% of our subscription income in the year amounted to £ 903 (2009:£848) and will continue to rise.

 The value of the Trust's investments reduced in value by 1.3% to £440,299 which is acceptable given the volatile market conditions, but continues to reflect the conservative investment approach. , the Trust's policy of long-term investment remains unaltered.

 The trust reported regularly to the main Committee of the Old Berkhamstedians.  During the year the Directors/Trustees of the Company were John Bale (who is also Company Secretary), Sue Wolstenholme, Mynerva Altman, Natasha Charlton, Mike Horton, Keith Goddard and Stephen Bourne and Andrew Bale.
